RICHARD DUNNE could complete a remarkable comeback from a potentially career-ending injury by playing against the Faroe Islands, his first full game since Ireland lost to Italy in Euro 2012 a year ago.

Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni confirmed that Dunne (pictured) is now under consideration for the World Cup qualifier against the Faroes at the Aviva on Friday.

"Yes, Richard will be considered for the Faroes game and as a starter." said Trapattoni. "We gave him some time against Georgia and he is fit."

Dunne, meanwhile, says he'd be delighted to line out against the Faroes.

"It was a great match to get back into, with the way it panned out.

"It was nice to have the week's training and finish off with a game, that was really good," said Dunne.

"It was brilliant to get that reception and it means a lot to me, after being out for a year. For the fans to do that was really special.

"And it would be brilliant to play on Friday, I might be stiff and sore the next day but it's nice that the manager involved me at all.

"And if I can get more games it would be brilliant. I will have a chat with the doctor on Monday and see," added Dunne.
