RICHARD Dunne is poised to make a surprise return to international action against Georgia and could be in line for competitive action against the Faroe Islands on June 7.
Dunne has not kicked a ball since Ireland's final Euro 2012 game against Italy and his contract with Villa is up next month. However, Trapattoni is ready to hand him the perfect shop window. Dunne teamed up with the Ireland squad at Watford's training ground yesterday and trained on his own but today played in a five-a-side, so Trapattoni is ready to test his hip/groin injury, although not against England.
"Not against England no, but maybe for 30 minutes against Georgia we can see whether he is fit or not," claimed Trapattoni. "I have clarified Richard's situation and he has no club. We can help him with this."
Asked whether he believes Dunne is ready to play, Trapattoni was cautious: "He has been playing five-a-sides with Aston Villa but he hasn't played for a year."
"We will go step-by-step. We must be very, very careful with this injury."
