CROCKED Dundalk striker David McMillan wants his team-mates to finish off the job in his absence and seal the league title.
The Dubliner has played a vital role for Stephen Kenny's outfit this term by scoring 15 goals in all competitions but his season is over as the club have confirmed that McMillan needs surgery on an ankle ligament injury which he suffered in last week's win over UCD.
"My season is over and it's disappointing. I went for an MRI scan on Tuesday and I have torn ligaments in my ankle. I have surgery to fix things there and will be in a cast for the next six weeks so we will see what happens then," he says.
"It's hard to look back on the season at the moment because it is still ongoing but I am very happy with my contribution this year.
"I have scored goals and really enjoyed my football this season. Hopefully the guys can push onto more success with finishing it off with a league title.
"I am just disappointed that I won't be able to help but that's the way it goes."
