PRESSURE has intensified on Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers after it was claimed that Ajax boss Frank De Boer would be open to a move to Anfield.

Antrim man Rodgers (far right) is under pressure after a poor run in the Premier League and a Champions League exit, and defeat to Championship high-fliers Bournemouth in the League Cup tonight would see his future under more scrutiny.

Rodgers did not need to have rival coaches touting themselves for his job and he will not be impressed to know that Ronald de Boer has spoken about the possibility of his brother, Frank, moving to Anfield.

"At the end of the season he surely could," Ronald said when asked if his brother could take over at Liverpool.

"It's a nice club. If Liverpool ask now he would certainly think about it. He would certainly not close the door immediately, like he did two years ago."

Meanwhile, Málaga have denied there has been any bid or contact from the Reds for Mexican keeper Guillermo Ochoa.

It had been reported that Liverpool had agreed a fee of £3m with Malaga for the keeper whose arrival would put pressure on Simon Mignolet.
