LEON BEST has today pleaded with Giovanni Trapattoni not to end his Euro 2012 dream and has begged the Ireland boss to give him a chance of making the Irish squad for the finals.
Best, 25, has been sidelined since February with a knee injury but he's resumed full training and could return to action against Stoke next weekend.
A run with Newcastle may not be enough to put Best - last capped against Brazil over two years ago - into the frame for the finals but the striker has refused to give up on his dream of winning a seat on that plane to Poland.
"I know I haven't been in the squad for a while but it should be a matter of picking players on the season they've had and I'd like to think I deserve a place in the squad at least," Best told the Evening Herald.
"It's a matter of Trap not forgetting me. I'm in a team that's in the top six in the Premier League, and I have played 20-odd games for the team. I am definitely looking for a spot in the Irish squad," added Best.
