Derry prepare for semi with Dundalk rout

DERRY City eased the pressure on under-fire coach Declan Devine with a 4-0 victory over Dundalk at the Brandywell last night.

A convincing scoreline saw Derry cruise to victory and give them a morale boost going into Sunday's all-important FAI Ford Cup semi-final clash with Shelbourne.

They will go into the game with their Dublin rivals with renewed confidence after goals from David McDaid, Patrick McEleney, Ryan Curran and Dermot McCaffrey.

David McDaid scored the opener after the half hour mark after he fired home Simon Madden's cross.

City added a second on 48 minutes thanks to an excellent solo effort by Patrick McEleney. Ryan Curran made it three with 10 minutes remaining and Dermot McCaffrey completed the rout.
