Dennehy ends four years at Rovers to rejoin Cork

BILLY DENNEHY has rejoined Cork City after a four-year spell with Shamrock Rovers in a move that will see him link up with his brother next season.

Defender Darren Dennehy was on the books at Cork last season, though injury restricted him to just 10 league appearances, but he has signed on for another season at Turner's Cross – and he will be joined by his sibling Billy, who previously had a spell in Cork in 2009.

"It is obviously a very different club now to the one I left, and the club has made great strides in the last few years," said Billy, one of nine players released by Rovers at the end of last season.

"Even when I was away, it is a club I always wanted to come back to at some stage in my career.

"When the chance came up, I had no doubt in my mind that it was what I wanted to do."
