FORMER Ireland man Rory Delap has signed a one-year contract with League Two side Burton Albion.
"The manager invited me down to the club for pre-season and having been involved for just over a week I'm delighted to sign permanently," said Delap after his move from Stoke City.
TEENAGER Jack Bayly is hoping to win a contract with Championship outfit Bournemouth. The Cherry Orchard lad has been invited to line out in a friendly game for the Cherries tonight.
Ex-Shamrock Rovers man Don Cowan is on trial with Southend United, while Graham Carey is close to agreeing a deal with Dundee United following his exit from St Mirren.
EX-IRELAND U21 cap Michael Timlin is training with his former club Southend United after he was released from prison.
Timlin, capped eight times at U21 level (2005-06), served 42 days in jail after he was convicted of providing false details in relation to speeding offences, but Southend are ready to welcome the 28-year-old back to the club.
"It will be good to have Michael back in the camp again and contract talks with him are already a long way down the line," said manager Phil Brown.
"He's out of contract at the moment and signing him up again would give us a real boost because he brings creativity and real energy to the team, and we do need more options in the midfield."
FORMER Ireland man Caleb Folan could be on his way back to the English club scene if he can win a contract at Championship side Blackpool.
Folan has been out of the spotlight for some time after spells with clubs in the USA and Malaysia, but he has been spending time with Blackpool and played in a pre-season friendly last night, hoping to impress manager Paul Ince.
