Death of Tommy Cullen

THE death has taken place of well known soccer legislator Tommy Cullen of the LSL, FAI and LFA.

Tommy came into footballing legislation through his involvement with Hospital's Trust FC, where the coach was the legendary Manchester United scout Billy Behan.

Tommy subsequently had a long association with Dalkey United before serving as a loyal secretary to league chairman Charlie Cahill for several decades within the Leinster Senior League.

Removal is this evening (Tuesday) from Quinn's of Glasthule to St. Joseph's Church, Glasthule, arriving at 5pm. Funeral tomorrow Wednesday, after 10am Mass to Shanganagh Cemetery.

The draw for the Leinster FA Senior Cup was held at Abbotstown last night where holders Shelboure FC were drawn away to Bohemians while Leinster Senior League side Killester United were given a home draw against Pete Mahon's St Patrick's Athletic.

Matches are down for decision on or before July 31 but St Pat's involvement in Europe may necessitate a deferment of their game with the only non-league team left in the competition, Joey Graydon's Killester United.

Dundalk sign up Reading's Carl

DUNDALK have completed the six month loan signing of Reading defender Carl McHugh.

The 18-year-old will be plunged straight into the Lilywhites' staring XI for Friday's clash with UCD, as they continue to battle with a long injury list.

McHugh, a Donegal native, has captained Ireland at Under-16 and 17 level and is on standby for the forthcoming UEFA Under-19 finals in Romania.
