De híde set the 'B' standard

COLAISTE DE HIDE tournament winners in 2010, look to be the team to beat this year after impressively marching into the semi-finals.

Goals from Lee Ó Briain (2) and Dylan Ó Briain yesterday secured a 3-2 victory against Patrician College, Finglas in the first quarter-final of the campaign.

The victory came less than a fortnight after De híde produced the result of the season by knocking out All-Ireland holders St Kevin's Community College, thanks to a 5-3 win in the last 16. De híde, of course, claimed the title two-and-a-half years ago and, like Kevin's last time out, went on to claim national glory.

The last time a school from outside of either Tallaght or Clondalkin won the Senior B Cup was Patrician College in 2008 and as de híde eliminated them yesterday the hopes of the rest could fall to St Kilian's DSD.

The Clonskeagh outfit followed up their impressive preliminary round destruction of Greenhills with a 4-3 success over St Tiernan's CS, Balally, in the last 16. Kristian Leonard, Nika Arevadze, Brian McCann and Moritz Welz got the goals as Kilian's now progress to face Scoil Aireagail, Ballyhale in the last eight.
