De Bruyne's move still on

Kevin de Bruyne's agent has poured cold water on Wolfsburg's claim that Manchester City target Kevin de Bruyne is definitely staying with them.

The German club's sporting director Klaus Allofs claimed on Tuesday that the Bundesliga player of the year 'will stay with us' - pointing out that he is contracted until 2019.

The "Wolves" are also said to be preparing to double his £61,500-a-week wages, to make him one of the top earners in the Bundesliga.

But the former Chelsea midfielder, who is interesting Bayern Munich and Paris St Germain as well as City, is not certain to sign any new deal.

His agent has suggested that Allofs jumped the gun in saying the player will definitely stay.

Patrick de Koster said in response to Allofs: "Will Kevin definitely stay with Wolfsburg? I await their proposal. I have not sat down at the table with the club."

When the suggestion that de Bruyne will be tempted by a big new contract offer was made, de Koster replied: "That remains to be seen. Who knows if Wolfsburg will make Kevin an offer that puts him in the top three earners in the league?

"In that case, let the club prove that he is incredibly important and that they themselves are ambitious.

"But they can call if they have a top offer prepared - it could turn out to be a ridiculous proposal."

Attacking midfielder de Bruyne is one of City's three main targets this summer, along with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and Liverpool striker Raheem Sterling.
