KENNY Dalglish stands alone in full control of his fate at Liverpool.
But the pressure is on to deliver progress to ruthless paymasters John Henry and the Fenway Sports Group.
Damien Comolli's departure yesterday provided a handy scapegoat for FSG, who are actively pursuing heavyweights like Johann Cruyff and Louis Van Gaal to take over his role as Director of Football.
Reports suggest that FSG, while backing Dalglish fully, believe that Liverpool need another strong presence at the club to provide some balance.
"We've got great confidence in Kenny," said chairman Tom Werner. "We feel the team is going to make strides in the future and he enjoys our full support.
"The strategy is a strong one and it will continue.
"We need to build a strong system under the first team.
"We're hard at work identifying transfer targets and we will be better next year," claimed Werner.
