Coventry give Boothroyd the boot

COVENTRY have sacked manager Aidy Boothroyd in an attempt to end the Sky Blues' slump in the Championship, writes Peter Carroll.

Boothroyd's spell at the Ricoh Arena began with some success, turning over some convincing results after taking over from Chris Coleman, former Fulham manager, beating Sheffield United and Middlesbrough in the opening games of the season.

However, Coventry have recorded just one win in their last 16 games, leaving them in a lowly 19th position.

Their 1-0 loss to Hull City at the weekend was the final straw for thhe Coventry board and the club released a statement yesterday announcing Boothroyd departure.
