Cork scrap for win against Students

Cork City returned to the top of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division after a 2-1 victory over UCD at Turner's Cross.

Despite going down early the Leesiders rallied and were given a huge boost after a half-hour, with Hugh Douglas seeing red for a professional foul in the box, and Billy Dennehy calmly converting the resulting penalty.

From there the hosts were on top, and Mark O'Sullivan's header from a Colin Healy corner in the 75th minute handed them victory.

After Robbie Creevy's early goal, the goalkeepers dominated proceedings; Conor O'Driscoll showing fine reflexes while Mark McNulty's flying save denied Creevy his second goal.

The second half sprung into life, with Gareth Matthews having to be on his toes to clear Josh O'Shea's effort, while just after the hour Rob Lehane blasted over.

Cork finally grabbed the winner 15 from time moving to top of the table until at least Sunday, when Dundalk entertain Athlone Town.
