Cook backing Sligo to keep up title chase

SLIGO ROVERS boss Paul Cook has backed his side to maintain their good run of form as they moved into the top three of the Premier Division table thanks to Saturday's 4-0 dismissal of UCD.

Rovers are getting into their stride now as Saturday was their fourth straight win and sixth in seven league games, and they face into a big week with a League Cup semi-final against league leaders Shamrock Rovers tomorrow and a league game away to St Pats on Friday night, where a win could see Sligo go second in the table.

"I don't look into crystal balls but the squad we have at the minute is as good as I have seen in my time in Sligo and the players have the desire and hunger to finish as high as possible," says Cook.

"We are playing well at the moment and the lads deserve all the plaudits. A lot of things are going for us at the moment and I think when things are going for you, you've got to push it as far as you can."
