Antonio Conte has been given the go ahead to splurge Chelsea's £52m Chinese jackpot from the sale of Oscar.

Aiming for a 13th straight Premier League win against Stoke at Stamford Bridge today, Conte is ready to spend but only if it makes sense.

"For sure, we sold Oscar and we have money to spend. But it's important to spend money in the right way.

"When you have a good group and a new player can be added to go into the group, it's very easy in a simple way.

'To spend for spending's sake, I don't like this. I prefer to buy players, adapt our system, people who can come into our team and pass.

"But I repeat, it's not easy in January in this window to find these type of players. But, with the club, we are working on these aspects," he said.

Conte has rejected widespread suggestions, the latest from Arsene Wenger, that the title is now Chelsea's to lose.

"At the start of the season, not one coach, not one person, not one journalist trusted in this team to fight for the title in this league this season," said the Chelsea boss.

"I think the most important thing in our heads must be to continue to work, to work very hard and continue to be focused game by game.
