Clap Trap - Robbie in but no McClean

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI is under increasing pressure to justify the selection of Robbie Keane for the crunch Euro 2012 showdown with Spain.

Faced with a form slump from his skipper, Trapattoni is ready to drop Kevin Doyle and replace him with Jonathon Walters as Ireland's extra man in midfield.

But he admitted that he has a lot of thinking to do before he makes his final choice.

"I need to clarify things with the team. I spoke with them about the confidence and trust again and I need to think a lot about making a change," said Trap.

Trap also ruled out James McClean as a game-breaking option against Spain on Thursday or Italy in the final game on Monday next, despite a heavy recommendation from Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill in the run up to the finals.

"Can he change the game? I don't know. We can't change because a newspaper or his club manager says so.

"This is our team, our squad. We have the new players. He will come in the future," he said.
