CELTIC will move to sign Daryl Murphy from Sunderland after the club appoints a new boss next week and the Bhoys have their eye on at least three other members of Giovanni Trapattoni's senior squad.
Murphy was loaned to Ipswich in February to team up with his former Stadium of Light boss Roy Keane who is also in the running to give him a permanent new home at Portman Road.
Keane will also have to battle with Celtic for Kevin Kilbane's signature but it is understood that Murphy is aware of Celtic's interest and would welcome a move to Parkhead.
Neil Lennon is still favourite to land the job and Parkhead sources have indicated Desmond is ready to name his new gaffer next week. That will kick off a more thorough exploration of the availability of several Irish players, beginning with skipper Robbie Keane.
Also on the list is Marc Wilson and Anthony Stokes while Steven Reid has had initial talks with Celtic about a move.
Robbie Keane is mulling over the possibility of at least two moves although a link-up with Mick McCarthy at Molineux is unlikely.
More credible is the suggestion that Keane could be used as part of a swap deal with Aston Villa for Ashley Young.
