Carlisle to resist Berrett chasers

CARLISLE United manager Greg Abbott has told higher league clubs to forget about bidding for their highly rated Ireland U21 cap James Berrett.

"I would be very surprised if teams weren't watching him, but James certainly won't be leaving," he said after an impressive run of form from Berrett, who has five U21 level caps.

"He has found a happy home here and he is really enjoying his football. He's a really low-maintenance player who is enjoying the fact he's playing regularly and is a really pleasing signing.

"He has been Mr Consistency and there is still more to come. He needs another year playing football at this level because he has missed too much football already for his age."
