Champions St Patrick's Athletic have given their supporters a pre-Christmas boost with news that former Saint Mark Quigley has rejoined the club, just hours after they secured a new deal with U21 cap Christopher Forrester, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.
Quigley, 28, was a free agent after he severed his ties with Shamrock Rovers earlier this week. Saints boss Liam Buckley – in need of a striker for 2014 as Anto Flood, a key forward in last season's title-winning side, is moving to Australia – swooped in, persuading Quigley to return to the club.
Quigley spent four seasons at Richmond Park and had one of the best spells of his busy career there, scoring 30 goals over two seasons.
After leaving Inchicore, he had spells with Bohemians and Dundalk and won a league title with Sligo Rovers, but his move to Shamrock Rovers last season was not successful as Quigley was plagued by injury.
He becomes the latest player to move from Tallaght to Inchicore over the close season, following Ken Oman, Conor McCormack and James Chambers.
