Brennan on Owls' radar

DROGHEDA UNITED star Ryan Brennan could be in line for a move to the Championship as Sheffield Wednesday have expressed an interest in the talented midfielder.

The Owls, currently struggling in the relegation zone in the Championship table, have already raided the League of Ireland for talent as they snapped up UCD man Paul Corry earlier this season, and now boss Dave Jones has been alerted to the talents of Brennan.

Ryan was one of three Brennan brothers in the Drogheda side last season alongside Gavin and Sean - older sibling Killian has just moved from Shamrock Rovers to St Patrick's Athletic - and he caught the eye, making 24 league appearances as Mick Cooke's side enjoyed a superb season, finishing second in the league and also winning the League Cup.

Drogheda have announced the signing of UCD duo Paul O'Conor and Graham Rusk as well as the arrival of Shelbourne midfielder David Cassidy, while Alan Byrne and Alan McNally have agreed new deals. Gary O'Neill is the other new arrival.
