LIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers will ask his players to create some new memories in the Ataturk Stadium against Beskitas this evening.
Although this Europa League Round of 32 second-leg can never come close to the remarkable night in 2005 when Liverpool claimed the Champions League crown in the same ground, Rodgers is relishing the prospect of another big Euro occasion.
"We're looking forward to the atmosphere - it should be really good. And we want to complete the job. The confidence is very high in the team," said Rodgers. "It was an historic night for the club and everyone associated with Liverpool respects that. Of course, it was a little while ago," he said, underlining the need for this crop at Anfield to register some silverware.
"There won't be too many of our players that were involved at that time. But certainly it is a really iconic stadium for the club and a big part of that history."
Liverpool travelled without Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho and the still injured Steven Gerrard but Rodgers is confident that his understudies can do the job.
"For us to go there and play with a lot of young players and a new squad, against a good team, we'll look forward to." "Any changes that we make in the team, the players come in and know the collective job," he added.
