Blues seek new boss

WATERFORD UNITED hope to have a new manager in place for next Friday's league clash with Athlone Town following Paul O'Brien's departure as Blues boss.

O'Brien decided to step down ahead of their last game, a disappointing defeat at home by Wexford Youths, on Friday night.

The Blues had hoped to push for promotion this season but made a dismal start to the season with just one point from the first four games.

"The club would like to thank Paul for his hard work and dedication over the past five years," the club said in a statement.

"Waterford United does see a coaching role for Paul within the club structures in the future."
