PER MERTESACKER v TONI KROOS
Giant German centre-back Mertesacker will bring some inside knowledge to his clash with international team-mate Kroos. The former Werder Bremen defender has grown into his role at the heart of the Gunners rearguard to become one of the most consistent performers in the Barclays Premier League. Mertesacker, though, must keep a closer grip than he did at the Emirates Stadium on the free-running Kroos, whose sublime goal in the first leg showed just why the 24-year-old is interesting Manchester United.
MESUT OZIL v JAVI MARTINEZ
German playmaker Ozil looked rejuvenated as he set the Gunners on the way to a 4-1 FA Cup win over Everton with the opening goal on Saturday, his first since the start of December. The 25-year-old was central to all of Arsenal's attacking moves and will be out to show he is over his nightmare penalty miss in the first leg with a strong display at the Allianz Arena. Bayern number eight Martinez - a 40 million euros record signing for the Bundesliga club in 2012 - will be the main conduit for the home side, who will be all too aware of just what a threat an on-form Ozil can be.
OLIVIER GIROUD v DANTE
France international Giroud was another player recently taken out of the Gunners frontline by manager Arsene Wenger, but marked his return to form when coming off the bench to net a second-half brace to help sink Everton and take his season's tally to 18. Giroud presents a strong physical presence, and Brazil defender Dante will need no reminding of his threat after the Frenchman scored an early away goal in Arsenal's 2-0 win at the Allianz Arena last season.
