Arena: We won't rush Keane back after Euro return

LA GALAXY will give Ireland captain Robbie Keane (pictured below) time to recover from his Euro 2012 travails before putting him back into the side for their MLS campaign.

While the other 22 players in Ireland's squad can enjoy a holiday over the summer, there's no rest for Keane as his side are in action in the MLS on Saturday.

"We're just going to see how he feels," said Galaxy manager Bruce Arena. "Every player needs a little time. We'll just have to see. We don't know what he's going to be like when he gets here.

"Hopefully he's okay but we'll see. We'll make that decision when he returns."

Captain Landon Dovovan feels Keane may want to get back to action with the club soon. "It wouldn't surprise me at all," said Donovan.

"Robbie did it in the play-offs last year, he went away for two games, came back and looked like he hadn't missed a beat.

"If there's a guy who could do it and has proven it, it's Robbie.

"We could certainly use him, we need some spark," said Donovan.
