Alexandrato replay Mary's for Cup crown

ALEXANDRA COLLEGE will look to retain their U17 Leinster League Cup crown when they face St Mary's College, Naas, in the decider – again.

A superb second-half showing at Leixlip United FC in November saw the Dubliners beat their Kildare counterparts in last season's delayed final.

Fixture congestion meant the game could not be played before last season's summer break – and Alexandra are looking to take even further advantage.

Despite the temptation provided by the rules, Alexandra manager Dave Collins did not use any of the senior players at his disposal last season who had graduated from the school by the time the showpiece game was played.

That means he will send out the same panel, with experience and success under their belts, when they face St Mary's again.

Caroline Healy's solitary goal in their semi-final clash with Leinster Cup champions Sacred Heart School, Tullamore, was enough to send Alexandra into the final.

Alexandra's senior side are not the only representatives from the school still enjoying their season.

The junior side are safely into the U15 Leinster League Cup semi-finals after beating Balbriggan Community College 2-1 away from home.

Collins' younger side will now have home advantage when they take on Dunboyne looking to book a place in the final.
