Aiden's red card could signal end to season

AIDEN McGEADY'S season in Russia could be over after the Ireland international was sent off for Spartak Moscow in a disappointing league defeat last night.

Spartak, already out of the running for a Champions League slot for next season but who were hopeful of a Europa League place at least, went down 2-1 away to bottom side Mordovia Saransk.

McGeady (below) had scored to give Spartak a 1-0 lead after six minutes, but five minutes before half time he was shown a straight red card and Mordovia won the game with two second half goals.

Spartak have only three games left in the league season and while McGeady is guaranteed to get a one-match ban, he could end up with a suspension that would rule him out for the rest of the season.
