Sligo hunger suits Heary

Sligo Rovers

OWEN Heary says he's impressed with the hunger shown by his Sligo Rovers players in pre-season.

Heary's new-look Sligo side kick off the new league season against Cork City in two weeks' time and they face another friendly test, against Finn Harps tonight.

With eight new faces at the club, slots in the starting XI are up for grabs but Heary is still keen to see competition.

"The players will be playing for their places in the team for the first game against Cork as they have been for all of pre-season," says Heary ahead of the Harps clash. "We have been looking at the progression of the players since the first game and will see how that continues tonight. That is why the players have been playing with such hunger." Sligo have scored an impressive 26 goals in four friendlies.
