Sinead Aherne is the Syls girl for all seasons

MALAHIDE is packed with delight. The Grand Hotel, the tennis club, the sea, Gannon Park and the Castle.

But, to the locals, Sinéad Aherne stands taller than any Christmas tree.

She's the Super Syl they all want to be. One of the finest forwards that has ever played the game.

But, like the great Katie Taylor, it's not just her magic in the arena that makes her such an icon. She's as modest as Ollie Campbell. And there's grace in every step she takes.

Sinéad has launched the 2015 St Sylvester's calendar.

Role model

"We were delighted that Sinéad launched the calendar for us," says the club's juvenile chairman, Paddy Miskelly.

"She is a true role model for all the members of our juvenile section, both boys and girls."

The calendar is kindly sponsored by Hughes Dental, Malahide Dental Care, Malahide Grinds Academy, Merrion Capital, Carephone Warehouse and Ulster Bank.

Calendars are on sale for ten Euro at the St Sylvester's club house, through team mentors and at the weekly Academy.

All proceeds go to the juvenile section and the Academy.
