HOCKEY: Kate Dillon has named a Leinster U18 girls side with a smattering of adult Division 1 quality for the upcoming interprovincial series in Stormont, which is set for October 22 and 23.
Fresh from their goals for Division 1 club sides Old Alex and Railway Union respectively last week, skipper Emma Russell and Orla Macken are among a couple of the marquee names.
Irish U18 panelist from last summer, Kate Lloyd, is also among a list of six players back for a second spell with the side. Nicola Walsh is back between the posts, while vice-captain Laura Gray and Orla Patton are the other returnees.
Eight players, meanwhile, have stepped up from last year's Leinster U16 side. Among them, Molly Lamb and Sarah Hawkshaw bring a ladies' football flair to proceedings -- both were part of Dublin underage panels that reached All-Ireland finals in the past two years.
Hawkshaw was in the Irish U16 panel this summer along with goal-getter Hannah McDermott, sweeper Millie O'Donnell and 'keeper Carolyn Crampton while Claire Foley, Jessica McGirr and Jennifer Long move up from the Blues' U16 set-up.
At U16 level, five of last year's side are back with Alexandra College's Irish U16 duo Amber Gleeson and sharp-shooter Anna Roopnarinesingh leading the charge as they look to win back the title for the first time since 2005.
Holy Child's Jenna Volpert, Wesley's Sarah Quill and Ailbhe Marsh, from Mount Anville, are the other trio back for another run for the young Blues.
The side includes a large representation from St Gerards, with three players involved, including 13-year-old Elena Tice, who became the second youngest ever cricket international in August when she lined up for Ireland against the Netherlands.
