Ella Fennelly of Mount Anville showed a welcome return to form when she won the senior 800m at the second day of the East Leinster Track and Field Championships at Santry.
Fennelly was a convincing winner of the race with Sorcha Ní Fhionnalaigh winning the battle for second place from her Coláiste Íosagáin team mate Eileen Ní Scanláin.
At inter level, Emer O’Brien of Dominican Wicklow added the inter 800m title to the 1500m she had won a day earlier.
Another double winner was James Maguire of St Benildus. He had won the 1500m on the opening day of competition and added the 3000m a day later. Longest race of the day was the senior boys’ 5000m won by Luke
McCann of Blackrock.
In the sprints, Blackrock’s Brian Masterson was another double winner taking his specialist 400m on the first day at senior level and the 200m a day later.
Molly Hourihan of Alexandra College won the junior girls’ 200m after earlier taking the long jump.
Loreto Dalkey dominated the inter girls’ 200m with Mollie O’Reilly the winner from Alannah Ryan and Katie Magee of Teresian in third place. In the relays, Mount Anville won junior, inter and senior girls’ 4x100m races, while Blackrock College won the boy’s inter and senior relays.
Top three in all races qualified for the Glo Health Leinster Track and Field Championships starting next Wednesday May 13 and continuing on Saturday May 16.
