Diamond a different kind of dual player Murray drops in on 'dangerous' Saints Wesley skipper likely to miss Blackrock tie

St Michael's full-back Cormac Diamond is a dual-code start, but not the kind most recognised in Gaelic games.

The St Vincent's clubman was a member of the Dublin minor panel that won the Leinster championship in 2009.

Older brother Tiernan is currently making his move on the county senior panel. His father played more than once for Dublin in the golden era of the 1970s, winning an All-Ireland club medal with St Vincent's in the middle of that decade.

Murray drops in on 'dangerous' Saints

Clongowes Wood coach Noel Murray was an interested spectator at the quarter-final of their next opponents, St Mary's, 17-12 winners over Roscrea.

"They were very dangerous, scored three tries. Their No8 (Mark Fallon), their blindside wing (Eoin Moriarty) and a few other individuals stood out all right," said Murray.

It looks as though Clongowes No8 Conor Gilsenan, right wing Oscar O Suilleabhain 'and a few other individuals' will be given strict instructions in defence for the semi-final on Sunday week.

Wesley skipper likely to miss Blackrock tie

Wesley might have to do without their influential captain Oliver Brookes for their Junior Cup quarter-final against Blackrock next Tuesday.

The No8 is away on holiday for the mid-term break and is only scheduled to return on the Thursday. It is likely Andrew Verso would get the nod at No8.

Wesley scrum-half Aaron Copeland has been their hero, claiming tries in the 14-8 win over Roscrea in the Fr Godfrey Cup first round which enabled them to qualify for the Junior Cup first round in which they shocked Belvedere 10-8.
