Saplings' Cup of cheer

There was great excitement when Saplings special school for Autistic Children in Carlow knew that Leinster supporter JP Byrne was coming to see them with the Heineken Cup recently.

The silverware was warmly welcomed with the children inspecting the trophy with amazement while the staff couldn't believe the size and weight of the trophy. Saplings caters for children with autism and was established originally through the energy and commitment of a small group of parents and professionals in the Kildare area.

Saplings now have five centres throughout Leinster in Kildare, Dublin, Kilkenny, Westmeath and Saplings School Carlow is the fifth such school and was also set up through the hard work of parents in this area, with the support of the local community in fundraising.
