Kevin Toner fired St Patrick's Athletic into the Leinster Senior Cup final last night as they saw off Dundalk 1-0 at Richmond Park.

Pat's had been much the stronger team in the regulation 90 minutes but found Gabriel Sava in inspired form between the posts.

They continued to pile on the pressure in extra time and, when they were awarded a free kick at the end of the first period, former Aston Villa man Toner clipped a beautiful shot over the wall and into the back of the net.

Just minutes earlier Darragh Markey had hit the post for the Saints.

Dundalk fielded a weakened team, with most of their best stuff coming through Patrick McEleney.

Pat's pushed forward for a second goal to relieve the pressure. It didn't come, but that didn't matter in the end, and they will face Shelbourne in the final.
