Coolmine played host to touring USA side, the Mary Washington Rugby Club (aka "The Mothers") on Sunday in Ashbrook.
The team from Washington are linked with the University of Mary Washington. Their players are a mix of experienced veterans, athletes in their first years of rugby and university freshmen who played in high school.
They pride themselves on inclusion and taking care of our own -- they have unequalled teamwork on and off the field and an excellent job placement programme after graduation through their 30 years of alumni.
The club tours every two years and this time Ireland was their destination of choice.
A carpet of snow on the eastern seaboard hampered their departure but eventually they landed in Dublin on Saturday for their eight-day stay.
Three matches took place.
A combined Coolmine tag and veteran's selection took on Mothers in a 10-a-side challenge tag contest. And an U21 selection then took on Mothers 2nd XV.
But the main event of the day saw Coolmine's seconds take on Mother's first selection.
All three contests were hard fought battles with the home sides' experience winning out in the end.
However, the visitors were not overly disappointed and were delighted with the chance to take on 'testing' opposition. Next stop for Mothers is Galway.
Best of luck to them on the rest of their tour!
