Tindall back in English squad

MIKE TINDALL'S England career could yet be salvaged after the English RFU reduced the fine for his off-field misconduct at the World Cup and reinstated him to the elite player squad.

The Gloucester centre, who was punished after a night out with team-mates in Queenstown in the tournament, was initially fined £25,000, but it was confirmed last night that it had been reduced to £15,000 on appeal.

RFU acting chief executive Martyn Thomas recognised mitigating factors did not appear to have been taken into account.

Rugby Players' Association CEO Damian Hopley said: "We are relieved Mike has been reinstated."
