Tallaght young guns ready to take next step after tag trial

AFTER a six-week Leinster Rugby tag programme, Sacred Heart SNS in Tallaght have seen some fantastic rugby talent in both girls and boys.

From a school with no rugby background, the initial sessions were testing but after the second week each class began to become familiar with the rules of the game.

It was phenomenal to see the students pick up the new sport, showing great skill and footballing ability with impressive agility and talented footwork throughout.

With a healthy competition for the game in their teams the students began to challenge each other week by week showing the true spirit of rugby.

After an impressive six weeks of tag rugby, a large proportion of students have shown interest in giving contact a try and would like to link up with their local club, Tallaght RFC.

After seeing the talent on show it would be fantastic to see a percentage of students, both boys and girls, carry on and play for their local club.

Any schools or community groups looking to introduce rugby to children in the South Dublin area should contact Leinster Rugby Community Officer Sophie Spence on 0862770471 or CROSouthDublinCC@leinsterrugby.ie.
