Tomorrow there is a special event taking place at St Mary's College RFC – the '87-90 Silver Gathering'.
It is an event to re-connect players, management, members, supporters, alikadoos and friends involved in the Templeville Road club between 1987 and 1990 together.
Guest speaker on the night is Lions, Ireland, Leinster and club legend Denis Hickie.
Come along and relive some great memories with lifelong friends made during this period.
It was a successful period in the club's history, winning competitions over the period including the Leinster Senior Cup, Leinster Senior League, Old Belvedere International 7s, Albert O'Connell Memorial Cup (J2), Junior 2 League, Moran Cup (J3), Junior 3 League, Col Winters Memorial Cup (J4), Junior 4 League and the Lorcan Sherlock Golf Cup.
Club president Steven Hennessy was captain of the club in 1989/1990. He is looking forward to welcoming everyone back on the night. In his opinion, this period can be best described as "as a recollection of rugby in St Mary's College pre the All-Ireland league".
"A reunion of many fine teams, colleagues and friends who enjoyed a highly successful period in the club's history in an extremely competitive period," said Hennessy.
It promises to be a special night and which is not just for teams of that era, it is for all club members who wish to be part of a well-organised event. The Silver Gathering 87-90 has been organised by Greg Maher and his team of Tom Young, Tony Gillen and John Kennedy.
