Skerries tackle sports conditioning

SKERRIES Rugby Football Club placed themselves firmly on the player development pathway when they held an IRB Sports Conditioning course. The aim was to help coaches prepare their players for the various physical requirements from U11 to U19.

Billy Mulcahy, Skerries' youth co-ordinator, said: "The coaches did much of the preparatory work online and over two days engaged in much practical work such as fundamental movement, conditioning and, very importantly, competence assessment.

"This will, hopefully, allow them to assess players and adjust misalignments thus helping them progress to the proper weight lifting techniques."

Billy was keen to thank Mark Harrington (IRB), Bryan Cullen (Leinster Rugby) and Derek O'Sullivan (Well Fit Health Centre) for their tutorship of the two-day event.
