Schools get with the programme at Wicklow

THE Wicklow RFC CCRO programme is continually growing in Wicklow town and the surrounding areas.

In two years the number of schools taking part in the CCRO programme has grown from nine schools to the current number of 17, with a new secondary school coming on board this year.

The CCRO programme offers schools a chance to participate in a tag rugby programme in an effort to introduce rugby to children who may have never played before or who are interested in playing and want to try it.

The programme is designed to attract players from the school to the club and play rugby in the club.

This programme is certainly working in the local schools and with new areas of growth and expansion being targeted in the future, the playing population of rugby both in Wicklow RFC and local schools looks set to continue to rise and rise.

Over the past season through the CCRO programme, 1,500 kids from the 17 local schools have taken part in the tag rugby programme.
