Russell caps Naas influence on U18s

THE second round of the Under-18 (Club) interprovincial series kicked off at Forenaughts last Saturday in brilliant sunshine.

Michael Cunningham (IRFU Chair of Youths), Brendan Leahy (Leinster Chair of Youths) and Eamonn Feely (Connacht Senior Vice President) were joined by officials of Naas RFC together with a large group of spectators comprising family and friends of both provincial teams.

The Leinster squad comprised 23 players from 14 clubs whilst the Connacht squad comprised 23 players from 11 clubs.

The provinces were led by their respective captains, James Nolan (Leinster) and Jack Codyre (Connacht).

Naas RFC were very proud to host this event and to be represented on the Leinster team by Mike Russell (pictured) who played at second row and who achieved his second Leinster youth cap on the day at Forenaughts.

The match finished with a score of 29-6 in Leinster's favour.

Leinster play away to Munster this weekend whilst Connacht host Ulster to decide who will progress to the semi-final stages and gain home advantage.
