Ronnie, 80, offers Welcome proof that age is no obstacle

Welcome Home (supporting the Fr Peter McVerry Trust) is one of the official Leinster charities and Leinster Rugby would like to congratulate all 386 cyclists who took to the road for the Dublin to Wexford Cycle recently, raising much-needed funds for Fr McVerry's work with the homeless in the Leinster region.

In particular Leinster Rugby would like to congratulate 80-year-old Ronnie Kavanagh, who completed the cycle. Ronnie played for UCD and Wanderers and had a distinguished international career, winning 35 caps between 1952 and 1962. The Heineken Cup trophy was prominent at the start of the cycle and Welcome Home have reiterated their appreciation of Leinster Rugby's ongoing support for their charitable and fundraising efforts.

Leinster Rugby would like to encourage all Leinster supporters, young and old, to support the work of Welcome Home by donating (www.welcomehome.ie/donations), or completing the cycle next year.

As Ronnie has proven, you are not too old to consider it!
