Record crowd to see Wallace return in West

A RECORD crowd is expected at the Sportsgrounds tonight as Connacht face a Munster side that includes the returning David Wallace (Live TG4, KO 7.45).

The previous record for a league fixture at the Galway venue was broken on New Year's Day when more than 6,500 fans packed in, but an even greater crowd is expected.

Wallace returns after nearly seven months following a knee injury sustained in the World Cup warm-up game against England last August.

Two players who will be leaving Munster are London Irish-bound No9 Tomas O'Leary and Lifeimi Mafi, who will play his rugby in the French Top 14 with Perpignan next season.

Mafi's move was confirmed on Wednesday and coach Tony McGahan was fulsome in his praise of the 29-year-old.

"He has been an outstanding contributor to the Munster set-up," said McGahan. "A thorough professional on and off the field and an extremely popular squad member. He has played an integral part in the success Munster have enjoyed since joining in 2006 and I believe that when it comes to discuss the greats who have worn the Munster jersey, Lifeimi will be right up there."

Munster will be looking to consolidate their place in the play-off places ahead of next weekend's tie with Leinster.

Meanwhile, Ulster will be hoping to continue their push for the play-offs with an away win at Treviso this afternoon.
