IT'S that time of year again – time to start drafting those dreaded New Year's resolutions and reinventing your life.
Getting fit, taking up something new, making new friends, committing to some voluntary work, improving your career, going travelling, spending less time on Facebook – all feature on top 10 resolution lists every year.
Did you know that by joining Railway Union RFC Women's team you can tick off each one of the above resolutions in one fell swoop?
Getting fit always takes its place at the top of resolution lists and where better to do this than by taking up women's rugby at Railway. Training is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30pm-8pm at our grounds on Park Avenue in Sandymount. Rugby is a unique sport in that it combines aerobic, anaerobic and muscular fitness – the ultimate workout. Modern rugby focuses on strength, mobility, flexibility, core stability and intense fitness.
If taking up something new is on your list, why not try women's rugby? We welcome everyone in Railway, be it complete beginners to seasoned players who are moving to or living in Dublin. We field three adult women's rugby teams, at All-Ireland League (AIL), Leinster League and Leinster Development League level.
We also offer age-grade rugby for girls at Railway with both a girls U18 and U15 team competing in the Leinster League. If you have a background in other sports, especially basketball, gaelic football, athletics and soccer, you will find your skills are highly transferable. We also can guarantee top class coaching and an unrivalled player welfare programme.
Another common resolution can be to expand your network of friends, especially for those who may have just moved to Dublin and are looking for a social scene to get involved in. Look no further – Railway's women's team are an eclectic mix of players from all over Ireland, Europe and even the world. Close bonds are formed on the pitch and transfer to the clubhouse and bar afterwards. Railway has a vibrant and busy social scene where both the men's and women's teams socialise together. Both sections are fully integrated in all areas.
