Plan is coming together nicely for the 'A Team'

FLANKER Rhys Ruddock and wing Dave Kearney will make their seasonal debuts by playing some part for Leinster A in the British & Irish Cup against Pontypridd in the heart of Welsh rugby country today as Pontypridd take on Leinster A.

COACH Colin McEntee will have been greatly warmed by the fast-flowing 47-18 dismissal of English Championship club Leeds Carnegie last Saturday night.

In fairness, Leeds had made nine changes from their most recent Championship outing. This tempers the magnitude of Leinster's performance and, certainly, the result.

However, McEntee would have noted how this 'A-Team' looked much sharper in round one this season than in the corresponding fixture last. Pontypridd broke even 20-all away to Jersey.

They will need to have their wits about them against the Welsh club champions in what is certain to be a traditional, hostile environment in what is being billed as 'Celtfest' in the area.

Verdict: Leinster A
