O'Meara's brace Knocks out Tullow's brave bid

THIS was a reflection of how far the less familiar schools have come as Tullow Community School gave Castleknock all the trouble they could handle in this Vinnie Murray Senior Cup first round at Donnybrook on Tuesday.

They were still in the hunt for a shock, trailing 10-7 to tries by wing Rob O'Meara and flanker Bilal M'Uazzam, when their talisman and captain Martin Cole was forced off by injury in the 38th minute.

It sucked all the energy out of their effort to that point which had included a wonderful solo try by fly-half Colin Byrne and a lead conversion from centre Darragh Murphy.

From there, Castleknock eased away with 15 unanswered points, including tries by centre Marc Boucher and a second from O'Meara for a quarter-final slot against Skerries Community College.
