Normans and Kilkenny set for historic meeting

TOMORROW, history will be made when Normans RFC play Kilkenny RFC in the Normans' home ground in Knocktopher in the Leinster Metro League.

This will be first time that two rugby clubs from the county will meet in a competitive fixture. Kilkenny RFC is noted as one of the oldest clubs in Leinster with their existence being traced back to 1885. Roll on 125 years to the year 2010 and the Normans RFC was formed. Now, with the Normans into only their fourth full season, this milestone meeting against Kilkenny RFC's thirds is a case of new playing old.

Both teams are playing well in the league with just three points separating them. Kilkenny are coming into the game with three wins under the belt, while the Normans have racked up two wins so far this season. This game is important for both teams as the result could define their season. A win for either club will put them into pole position to win the league with half the season still to play.

If you're looking for something to do on the 23rd of November, why not come to Knocktopher Sportsground at 2:30pm and watch history being made when Normans RFC take on Kilkenny RFC.

After the game everyone is invited to Carroll's of Knocktopher for some food and the obligatory post-match discussion.
