Newbridge made to dig deep for Roscrea victory
NEWBRIDGE repeated their league final victory over Roscrea at Carlow yesterday, but it was a very different game this time around.
The Kildare outfit took league honours last December, with a 43-10 scoreline. Yesterday, they were made to work for the win, coming through 14-3.
Herald Sports Star of the Week Joe D'Arcy (pictured) converted both of Newbridge's tries, but missed a penalty. Out-half Jimmy O'Brien grabbed the first try, Conor Doyle got the other. Cistercian Roscrea applied serious pressure to Newbridge in the last 10 minutes but couldn't cross over the whitewash.
