Munster can deflate Aironi

Aironi v Munster, Stadio Zafanella, tomorrow 3.0 (rté2)

Coach Tony McGahan will want his players to show that anything leaders Leinster can do Munster can do just as well and better in Italy.

The faltering Ospreys allowed Munster to move into second last weekend as Leinster took four points away from Viadana.

Munster will bid to close the gap at the top from 12 points to eight, or maybe even seven, if they are clinical enough to finish what they create.

Leinster found out that shredding Aironi on home soil is not exactly a cakewalk.

Munster's famed tenacity and streetwise smarts will have to be intact as they scheme to move further away from the Ospreys, Glasgow and Ulster in their quest for a home semi-final.

While resources are always stretched on an international weekend, Aironi will have to do without seven players taken away by Italy.

Munster should be able to deal with their losses better than the club rooted to the foot of the PRO12 table.

Verdict: Munster.
