Monks' set to burst 'Bridge bubble

Newbridge v CBC Monkstown, Donnybrook, Monday 4.0.

CBC will be hotly fancied to make it through to the Powerade Leinster Schools Senior Cup semi-final on the basis of their slick 24-10 win over St Mary's.

There was impressive go-forward provided by their front row. Prop Eoghan McKeever and hooker Dylan Hanney do their best work on the front-foot.

Flanker Andrew Brennan is a real tearaway seven with pace to burn. Scrum-half Ben Mahon is their main architect inside the sharp running lines of centre Michael Courtney.

Newbridge are no one's welcome mat. They kept their heads on a swirling afternoon to beat off the considerable challenge of King's Hospital 12-5 out in Maynooth.

They have footballers, like fly-half Sam Sutton, and flyers, like wing Joe Darcy and full-back Chris Healy, to combine with the strength of Jake Howlett in the centre to test Monkstown.

Verdict: CBC Monkstown
